Frequently asked questions

How does it work?

We have developed a streamlined process to make finding talent easy: 1. Share some details about a project/opportunity you are looking to find talent for via our 'Submit a project' form. 2. We will review your submission, and may get in touch to ask a few clarifying questions. 3. Approved projects will be submitted in our jobseeker community, a hand picked community of emerging tech professionals. 4. Jobseekers submit applications focused on sharing why they're a fit for the role. 5. Applications are forwarded directly to you, with the first ones usually landing within 24 hours.

Once I receive an application, how do I take the conversation forward?

After submitting your project with us, once approved, you will receive expressions of interest in your mailbox (including the student's contact details). If they are a good match with your company, feel free to arrange an interview and see if they could be a good fit. Where we play the role of a connecting service, aiming to enable valuable connections between our graduates and startup partners - we'll leave it up to you to negotiate the terms of the working relationship and to ensure compliance with the relevant legisliation.

What are the costs involved?

There are no fees for INCO Academy's Talent Exchange service! As a non-commerical entity, our interest is solely in ensuring the success of our graduates and startup partners.

Given our role as a connecting service, we'll leave it up to you to negotiate the terms of your working relationship with our graduates, including remuneration.
As startups, we realise it may not always be feasible to pay your staff/contractors market rates. If the opportunity you list with us is unpaid, we'll reach out to confirm that it adheres to the guidelines set by the Fair Work Act (2009) before proceeding with the opportunity. We can also share resources to help guide you toward working arrangements that are both mutually beneficial and legally sound.

What's in it for the students?

Our students are on a journey to break into the Australian tech industry, and we're here to help them get started. With the struggles of finding experience but also needing experience to start a job, INCO's establishing a connection between start-ups and students so they can be prepared to break into their first tech role.

What's in it for INCO?

As a not-for-profit, our success is measured by the outcomes of our students. The more students we place into further education, internships, or full-time jobs, the better for us. The gap in the industry has left approximately 200,000 unfilled Australian tech jobs, we want to narrow that gap and support Australia in becoming an authority in the global technology sphere.
